Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has appealed to residents of the nation’s capital to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu, noting that the administration’s renewed focus on infrastructure is transforming lives, particularly in satellite towns.
Wike made the call on Wednesday during an inspection of ongoing road projects along the Bwari–Kubwa axis, where he assured residents that the Tinubu administration is determined to deliver development that improves living conditions in all communities.
According to the minister, President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive growth has inspired confidence among residents. “It is very difficult for anybody to win an election in the FCT against Mr President because people are genuinely amazed by what they have seen,” Wike remarked.
He explained that many of the projects taking shape across the territory reflect a deliberate shift from concentrating development solely within the city centre to extending it to underdeveloped areas. “We were told that the city is over-concentrated with infrastructure. That is why we are going to the satellite towns — these communities are part of Abuja, and their lives must also improve,” Wike added.

The minister cited progress on major routes, including Karu, Apo–Karshi and Bwari–Kubwa, as evidence of the administration’s resolve to enhance mobility and reduce travel time. “People can now live in places like Kuje and get to work in the city within 25 minutes. That is the kind of impact we are talking about,” he said, noting that many communities were witnessing such development for the first time.
Wike disclosed that some of the road projects are expected to be completed and commissioned as part of events marking President Tinubu’s anniversary in office.
On the issue of real estate regulation, he dismissed suggestions for the creation of a new agency to oversee developers, insisting that existing bodies are sufficient. “The problem in Nigeria is the proliferation of agencies. Creating more will not solve the problem,” he stated, emphasising that strengthening the Department of Development Control is the right step to ensure compliance with the Abuja Master Plan.
He assured residents that complaints of malpractice would be addressed promptly, adding that the FCT administration would ensure errant developers are held accountable.
Wike further urged residents to remain united and contribute to national development, stressing that progress in areas such as security and infrastructure requires collective effort. “This is a time for everyone to work together in supporting the government’s efforts to rebuild Nigeria,” he said, while extending Ramadan greetings to the Muslim community.
