The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has urged political associates and former officials of his administration in Zamfara State to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to end banditry and other forms of insecurity in the country.
Matawalle made the call at the weekend in Kaduna at an interactive meeting with former members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, former commissioners, special advisers and other political associates who served under his administration between 2019 and 2023.
The meeting, which focused on security, political developments and the progress of Zamfara State, also provided an opportunity for the former governor to rally his political structure behind the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the gathering, Matawalle said the protection of lives and property remained the primary responsibility of any serious government, stressing that the Federal Government was determined to defeat banditry and restore peace to affected communities.
“Security of lives and property is the major concern of every serious government in any country. That is why the APC-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has focused strongly on securing the nation,” he said.
The Minister said Tinubu’s commitment to tackling insecurity was demonstrated through his frequent engagements and consultations on security matters, both within and outside the country.
He said the President would not overlook insecurity, economic development, peace and national unity despite the political activities and challenges confronting the country.

Matawalle urged the former political office holders and other associates to take the message of the administration to the grassroots, particularly communities across Zamfara State.
He specifically charged them to mobilise support for the Tinubu Again Movement and galvanise the people of the state for the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
Earlier, leaders of the various groups represented at the meeting commended Matawalle for sustaining what they described as a strong political structure since his tenure as governor of Zamfara from 2019 to 2023.
According to them, despite his current national assignment as a member of the Federal Executive Council, Matawalle had continued to command significant loyalty and support across the state.
The leaders pledged their support for Tinubu’s renewed political efforts, arguing that the success of the President would translate into success for them and their political constituencies.
They also expressed readiness to promote Tinubu’s achievements and showcase Matawalle’s leadership, describing him as a politician who had demonstrated concern for the welfare and aspirations of his supporters.
