Wike backed PDP pegs presidential form at N51m, governorship N21m

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bloc  backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has scheduled its presidential primary for the 2027 general election for May 17 and 18.

A timetable issued by the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, yesterday, indicated that the nomination for candidates for House of Representatives, Senate, State Houses of Assembly and  governorship would hold on May 21,23, 25 and 27 respectively. While all appeals arising from the nomination exercises would be treated on May 30.

The timetable indicated that nomination and expression of interest forms for presidential aspirants would pay N51 million, while governorship aspirants would pay N21 million.

Aspirants for the Senate, House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly are expected to pay N6 million, N4 million and N3 million respectively.

According to the timetable, the sale of forms will last from April 27 to May 4 while  aspirants are expected to submit their completed forms not later than May 9.

The screening of aspirants for state Houses of Assembly, National Assembly and governorship positions is scheduled for May 11, while that of presidential aspirants will be screened on May 12.

PDP has been polarised with a faction led by former Minister of Special Duties and InterGovernmental Affairs, Tanimu Turaki and backed by the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde.

While the other faction, which is led by Abdulraham Mohammed, is supported by the FCT Minister.

The Supreme Court, yesterday, reserved judgement, on appeals and counter appeal before it, on the PDP leadership crisis.
