The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Prince Gboyega Famodun, Tuesday explained that aggrieved members of the party formed faction because of their inability to remain in power.
He said those that constituted the faction, ‘The Osun Progressives’ (TOP) are mostly former commissioners who believe that they should remain in power after two terms in office.
Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo, Famodun said the faction are not sincere with the reconciliation move considering the frequent accusation, allegation and litigation against the party.
He said, “there is no sincerity from their own part. The truth of the matter has we know is that they are too small, they are just fragment of the party.
“Majority of them are former commissioners and former office holders who believes they should continue in government. These are known to all of you.
“If we see a true reconciliation, we can still reconcile, but mind you, reconciliation taking place 4 to 5 months to election and dealing with people who have ulterior intentions at the table of reconciliation, as a politician, you must be very careful.
“Let me state that TOP is nothing more than just a club of rabble rousers, whose main objective is to disrupt the peace of Osun, put the state in bad light and create the impression that all is not well within the APC in the state.
“Let me also state categorically here that Governor Oyetola has no reason to unleash mayhem on his own state, a state reputed for peace. The party has no reason to disrupt any meeting or deploy trouble-makers. The lines have fallen for us in pleasant places. God is working for us because the Governor has a divine mandate,” Famodun added.
