An Ogun State based entrepreneur, Muraina Olatunji Banjoko, has disclosed why he is gunning for the Ogun Central Senatorial District seat at the National Assembly in 2027.

According to Banjoko, he is aspiring to unseat the incumbent senator representing the senatorial district, Salis Afolabi Shuaib in the next general election in order to use the legislative platform to continue impacting positively and help the socioeconomically disadvantaged members of the society.

The real estate mogul and chairman of Threeco Construction Company, who stated this while addressing select stakeholders and support groups at a grassroots gathering in Ifo, Ifo Local Government Area of the state, explained that his ambition is driven by a deep-seated passion for service, philanthropy, and advocacy for the upliftment of the downtrodden in the society

He emphasized that his journey into politics is an extension of his lifelong commitment to humanitarian service.

“I have always believed that leadership is about service. My closeness to the grassroots has shown me, first-hand, the struggles of ordinary people, and I cannot stand by while they continue to suffer. My passion for the masses is the driving force to seek representation at the National Assembly.

“My ambition is to use the legislative platform to continue doing what I have done all my life, which is to help the socioeconomically disadvantaged in our communities. Over the years, I have used my platform, Threeco Foundation, to carry out philanthropic gestures, such as scholarships for indigent students, empowerment programmes for women and youths and sponsoring medical outreaches in rural communities across the six local government of the senatorial Ogun Central.

“My personal life philosophy of doing good aligns with my motivation for public office; and for Ogun Central, the agenda is anchored on inclusivity and accessibility which is lacking at the moment. Unlike many public office holders who remain distant from the electorate, I am known for my open-door policy, daily engaging directly with market women, artisans, farmers, and youth groups. This model will be sustained as the people will be the centre of all that we shall be doing”, Banjoko stated.

Speaking on behalf of the support group, Reverend Yemi Adekunle, noted that Banjoko’s closeness to the grassroots makes him uniquely positioned to represent Ogun Central effectively.

“Beyond philanthropy that he is well known for, his vision includes pushing for legislation that will improve education, healthcare, community development and economic opportunities for the region.

“The senate must not be a place for self-serving politics but a platform to amplify the voices of the marginalized. His aspiration is already popular because his track-records of compassion and grassroots engagement has made him a formidable contender in the race to represent Ogun Central at the Senate in 2027, Adekunle submitted.
