The family of a 23-year-old lady, Ada Ebenezer Agada has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of their daughter by her supposed ex-boyfriend identified as Sam Kenneth.

Findings by Saturday Sun revealed that the suspect, who was caught in the act on Tuesday, April 14 at around 9 pm, was alleged to have lodged at a military hotel close to the crime scene for three days having come on a revenge mission from a yet to be identified village in Benue State.

Unknown to her, the estranged boyfriend was able to track Ada’s movement between her house on Sokoto Road and Benue Plaza (both located off WAFF Road) where she worked, which is less than 200 metres or six buildings apart, within three days.

The deceased was putting up with her aunt, who is a staff of Command Secondary and Nursery School, Sokoto Road, following the alleged opposition of her biological parents to the proposed marriage between her and Kenneth back in Benue.

When Saturday Sun visited Ada’s aunt at home close to the popular NEPA roundabout, Kaduna, the middle-aged woman was still in shock over the misfortune that befell her niece. She was in no state to share her last moment with the deceased with this correspondent.

A source, who spoke in confidence, stated that Kenneth’s parents, whose house was not far from Ada’s parents’ house in Benue, ran away from the house when the news of their son’s involvement in a murder case filtered into the air.

“He was hiding inside the gate. So as soon as she opened the gate, he attacked her, cut her mouth wide from her cheeks making her unable to scream louder for help. Before help could reach her, she died because she lost so much blood,” the source said.

But the deceased’s last employer, a pharmacist identified as Dele, described her as a dedicated staff even though the late Ada had worked in his Pharmaceutical store for just about 10 days.

“Her death remains a rude shock to me. She has been with us for 10 days. She resumed on April 4 and the incident happened on the 14th of this same April.

“She came here through her aunt, who happens to be our customer. She had a degree in this line of our business. She applied and I interviewed her in the presence of her aunt, and that was how she resumed on April 4.

“On the day of the unfortunate incident, I dropped her off by the junction of her house which is a trekking distance from the office if she were to trek back home, and drove off. That is after the close of business for the day.

“Unfortunately, as soon as I reached home, I got a call that she has been killed 30 minutes ago. I was like, how? Where? The following day, I drove down to the house where I met the aunt and other people around her, weeping profusely.

“The good thing is that the culprit was apprehended by the people around that very night she was killed immediately she entered the gate to her house.

“Within her few days of staying with us, she was a calm lady. Although she did receive a lot of calls, but that was not my business, so far she was doing her work. She was faithful to her duty within that short time we knew her,” he said.

However, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mr Jalige, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), who confirmed the incident said, the suspect has been helping the police in its investigation into the matter.

According to Jalige, Kenneth was rescued and subsequently arrested while he was about to be lynched by a mob who caught him in the act.

“Information gathered reveals that the suspect by name Kenneth, surname name not yet known, attacked his girlfriend, named Ebenezer Agada of Command Secondary and Nursery school Sokoto Road, Kaduna, with a machete and inflicted multiple varying degrees of injuries on her face, arms, and hands.

“In the process of the attack, he severed her left hand completely, alleging that he had spent a lot on her and she wanted to dump him for another man.

“The victim was rushed to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for treatment where a medical doctor on duty confirmed her dead on arrival. The corpse has been deposited at the same hospital for an autopsy. The investigation is currently on-going,” Jalige said.
