Taraba State Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Joseph Joshua has assured that the State Government has put in place all necessary measures to revive the State owned Male and female football teams as soon as possible.

Joshua, who disclosed this in Jalingo at a press briefing on Thursday said that the crisis in the Nigerian Football Federation NFF was responsible for the delay in reviving the FC Taraba and Taraba Queens.

He said that the State Government is determined to harness and showcase all the sports potentials in the State yo the world by going to the grassroots, identifying and grooming talented athletes and other sportsmen.

The commissioner further disclosed that with the plans to refurbish the Jolly Nyame Stadium as well as the Wukari and Gembu stadiums, sports activities in the State is set to resume fully.

“This past year has been marked by significant progress, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment and sports development, which are crucial for the future of our beloved State. In our second year, we will place even greater emphasis on the Jalingo Stadium, along with sports facilities in Wukari and Gembu, which will undergo substantial upgrades to better engage our youth and help export their sports talents to the world.”

“In the past year, we were able to procure Mattresses for NYSC orientation camp, construct NYSC Parade Ground, empowered youths with skills and sponsor some of them for a football trial in Vietnam and Greece. This is even as the Ministry supported the State Youth Chairman to emerge as the Deputy Chairman of the 36 State Chairmen forum as well as the Chairman of the 19 northern states.

“We have also constructed a new Tennis Court, sponsor some of Taraba Athletes to participate in the National Youth Games held in Asaba, and organized the first edition of Nature’s Gift Marathon which we intend to sustain and make it an international event in the near future.

“As we move forward, we are determined to build on these successes and achieve even greater milestones. Together, we can continue to empower our youth, develop our sports infrastructure, and ensure that Taraba State remains a beacon of excellence and progress” he said.
