The Kano State Judicial Commission of Inquiry on the Recovery of Public Property reiterated its commitment to fairness and honesty, declaring it will not be swayed by any personal interests.
Justice Faruk Lawan Adamu, the Commission Chairman, made this statement during the inaugural sitting held at the High Court 3, Audu Bako Secretariat, Kano, on Monday.
He emphasized that the Commission’s mission is fact-finding, not a witch-hunt. Its findings and recommendations will be submitted to the state government upon completion.
Justice Adamu pledged to grant fair hearings to all parties involved, including individuals, companies, agencies, and entities. He appealed to the public, particularly the media, to cooperate and avoid politicizing their work.
He encouraged individuals with relevant information to submit it in writing for verification. The Commission will then invite them to testify in person.
The Commission, inaugurated by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on April 4th, 2024, is tasked with reviewing the sale, disposal, or allocation of government-owned properties, institutional buildings, and public spaces during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
