We generated over N22bn in a day –Onne Customs

Immediate past Customs Area Commander, Onne Port,  Comptroller Baba Imam, has said that  among the milestones recorded under his watch was the revenue generation of  over N22 billion in a day.

He made the disclosure during an official hand  over  to  his successor, Comptroller  Mohammed Babandede at  Onne Command at the weekend.

Comptroller Imam thanked the Controller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, for the oppourtunity to serve as the Customs Area Comptroller of the Command.

He commended sister agencies and stakeholders for their commitment and support while also attributing his achievements to robust synergy, intelligence sharing and cooperation at the command.

Imam also recounted some projects initiated by his administration to include; construction of a 110 seating capacity conference room with modern facilities, creation of a computer training centre with 50 computers to enhance capacity building, workshops and training in the Command.

Another achievement was the establishment of an office complex for the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), refurbishment of  a canteens, hair salons among other facilities to further enhance comfort within the command.

While responding, Babandede,  promised to leverage on existing stakeholders relationship to boost revenue and business at the sea port.

He commended the command for establishing a robust synergy and pledged to operate an open door policy with a view to improving revenue generation.

He said: “I will operate an open door policy just like the out-going Area Comptroller. I urge officers and men in the Command to give me their support as they continue in their diligence.

“This will help improve on the achievements by my predecessor, enhance value addition towards suppression of smuggling as well as enhancing revenue output.”

The various Commanders, Heads of Security Agencies and stakeholders working in the state and  its environs graced  the hand over ceremony.
