Nisa Premier Hospital, one of the foremost private medical centre in Nigeria, has stated that technology will drive medical services in the future, stressing that it has deployed sophisticated technology and state-of-the-art medical equipments to offer advanced medical services to health-seeking Nigerians.
The hospital said it has continuous research, partnerships, and engagements with advanced medical systems and facilities in the world, with a dream to initiate measures that would guarantee reverse in medical tourism.
Dr. Ibrahim Wada, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Nisa Medical Group, told journalists at the 2025 Management Retreat in Abuja, that the meeting became very significant because of the need to provide the opportunity for the management of subsidiaries of the Nisa Medical Group to reflect on the achievements thus far and new targets of the hospital.
He said: “Everything about health these days is technology-based. Technology is advancing every day, and we are trying to better the life of the sick people amongst us. So, I think it’s a critical element of healthcare delivery. At Nisa Medical Group, we wants to be at the forefront of digital medical service delivery in terms of acquisition of new technology, maintenance of existing ones, and even contributing ideas to make technology more accessible to our young people through strategic thinking, team cohesion, which are like the Central Nervous System (CNS) of any organisation.
“Technology is obviously taking over our lives, and we can not avoid it. We can not be in the dark ages when the city of light is ahead of us. We must go there, and I think you will lose everything if you don’t imbibe technology. This will actually discourage brain drain. It will make us catch up and do things as fast as well as the rest of the world. So, brain drain will be stalled in a way because there are new challenges. Let’s do it. Let’s acquire new tech. Let’s be doing how everybody else is doing in the world.”
Chairman, Board of Nisa Group, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, in his remarks, appreciated the efforts of the Nisa Medical Group to adopt technology to advance quality medical services in Nigeria.
He said: “Technology, particularly the Artificial Intelligence (AI) knowledge and facilities, is fast becoming a must-have for every organisation. In medical services, AI has brought an unprecedented transformation in the sector. Doctors now rely on lots of technology and AI services for diagnostics and even robotics operations.
“We are focusing on these technological advancements to ensure that Nisa Medical Group, particularly the soon-to-be launched International Medical Centre, will be highly developed in technology to enhance its operations. The retreat is an opportunity for us to address issues around the future of the Nisa Medical Group and get the staff properly oriented ahead of the task ahead.
“We are asking ourselves a question on how we could optimise the use of technology in ensuring that we deliver better and quality healthcare services to the patients. That is the goal we want to achieve at this meeting.”
The Group Managing Director, Nisa Medical Group, Dr. Musa Shuaibu also told journalists that the Nisa Medical Group has been futuristic in its thinking and engagements, and the 2025 retreat was further designed to consolidate that.
He said: “In healthcare, you must think ahead to remain relevant and ready to serve the people. For instance, modern healthcare is technology-driven. It transforms on a daily basis. So, we can not afford to stand still, which could effectively mean moving backwards.
“For instance, telemedicine is one of the sophisticated technologies that we have deployed to provide quality and advanced medical services to our patients in Nisa. This has given us the opportunity to work closely and effectively with our medical experts in diaspora. They do live discussions and consultations with our patients and follow it up by coming down here physically for necessary procedures if the need arises, and that has been very effective over the years.
“In a few weeks’ time, we would be deploying our robotic facilities with which surgeons and others in the US or elsewhere and could attend to patients in Nigeria. That’s the level we have reached to provide quality and affordable healthcare for Nigerians and also reduce interest in medical services abroad, which costs more fortune to the people.”
