The Chief Executive Officer, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Gbenga Komolafe, has said the commission aims at making Nigerian upstream sector a destination for investment.

He also commended The Sun for factual reportage.

Speaking when he received a team from The Sun Publishing Limited in Abuja, Komolafe said NUPRC was regulating with a focus “to ensure that we make the Nigerian Upstream becomes the investors desire, a destination for investment and making our destination very competitive for capital inflow.”

He said that the NUPRC had set its regulatory focus quite right in that respect by ensuring that leakages to revenue were mitigated through a number of measures, most importantly in a manner that it can ramp up the federation’s revenue.

Komolafe said NUPRC was mindful of the global footprint, especially in the area of energy transition.

“We are equally having our focus in that respect so that we are not left behind as a nation and as an industry in our regulatory direction,” he stated.

On The Sun, Komolafe said: “I appreciate The Sun Newspaper for your factual and objective reporting. We are happy to note that The Sun Newspaper, as a media organisation, is engaging in factual reporting and for us as a commission, we are very much happy to collaborate with The Sun.”

In his remarks, the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, The Sun Publishing Ltd, Onuoha Ukeh, said NUPRC was an important institution in Nigeria as the country relies on oil and gas mainly for its revenue.

He said at a time the country was battling oil theft and making effort to meet production quota, “NUPRC is a valuable asset that should not be toyed with.”

Ukeh commended Komolafe and his team, while charging them to continue having their eyes set on the ball.
