The 2026 edition of Pro life walk and talk organised by Knights of St Mulumba, Nigeria, Lagos Metro, Region 4, has ended with a call on the Nigerians to shun abortion and its numerous consequences.
The annual programme, which was held at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mafoluku, Lagos came under the theme, “Protect the unborn, human life is sacred.” It brought together members of the Knights of St Mulumba, Nigeria and students from different schools around Lagos.

Some of the schools included T-Square High School, Liberty College, Ayobo, Dominican College, Mafoluku, Rosyland Comprehensive, Yaba, and Our Lady of Apostle College, Yaba.
Others included Sorek High School, Ikotun, Effort Will Academy, Ejigbo, Excel College, Ejigbo, and Ire- Akari Junior Grammar School, Isolo.
The programme started with a campaign to different streets in Mafoluku, where they distributed leaflets to members of the public, urging all to shun abortion and choose life.
Speaking at the programme, Rev. Fr. Jude Mary-Owoh highlighted several dangers of abortion and called on the youth to value their lives and desist from engendering their future.
He made reference to British Journal of Psychiatric where the journal stated that women who had undergone an abortion procedure, experience 81 per cent increased risks of mental health problems, including severe anxiety, clinical depression and a higher propensity for substance abuse.
“Abortion causes Psycho logical wounds, mental health problems, depression, anxiety and death,” Father Jude Mary Owoh, said.
He disclosed that life is sacred, adding that the unborn child is God’s creation. He explained that God has assigned specific purpose and destiny to any unborn child, stressing that the Catholic Church’s view on abortion is that, life is not a commodity or something that one can easily buy.
“Sometimes, we think and conclude that we can always have another child if we take out the unborn one. It is not as easy as it sounds. The unborn child is God’s creation and a gift from God,” Owoh said.
He added that there are spiritual consequences such as disconnection from God’s plan.
To prevent this tragedy, he called on parents to love over image and show their children unconditional love. He further admonished parents to be open to life and teach their children about abortion, and also be a safety net.
He urged the young people to set relationship boundaries and surround themselves with people of good character. “Bad character corrupts. Chose your friends wisely,” he said.
He emphasized the value of education, saying that it helps one to build capacity and create solutions.
The priest urged the youths to make the Eucharists and confession to be their source of life. He then called on parents to teach their children the sanctity of life and always to demonstrate love to them.
“Tell your children daily that there is nothing you can do that will make you their parents to stop loving them. This is to make them feel loved and behave well. If they know that your love is unconditional, they will run to you whenever they have any problem,” he stated.
He further charged the students to concentrate on their studies, urging them to wait until they are married to enjoy sex.
In his admonition, the Grand Knight of Ajao sub-council, and coordinating Grand Knight, Brother Emmanuel Dumuje, called on Christians to exhibit Christian virtue in the secret and in public, lamenting the carelessness of some parents who are careless and do not take proper care of their children.
He charged the students not to be angry with their parents no matter the situation, assuring them that they will be great if they are studious and diligent.
