The turnout of voters during yesterday’s Assembly election in Imo State was relatively low as most polling units visited by our correspondent recorded few voters.
At Umuihi, Atta in Ikeduru Local Government Area where elder statesman Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu voted, the electorate were reluctant to exercise their civil right.
Iwuanyanwu who applauded the progress of the election unlike the ones earlier held, however, regretted the level of voter turnout.
The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, also observed that the election was peaceful.
Our correspondent gathered that electoral materials and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived early for the election unlike during the previous ones.
