The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Obic Modestus, a policeman caught in a viral video assaulting a driver in the state.
Spokesman of the command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that the complaint unit of the command had summoned the erring policeman.
In an incident that reportedly occurred on Sunday, Modestus can be seen appearing to slap a driver seated in his car.
After the driver exited his car, the policeman hits him several times while dragging him into a waiting van.
A video of the incident went viral on social media on Monday, with many netizens calling on police authorities to identify and sanction the policeman involved.
Hundeyin said, “He will be handed over to the Provost Department for appropriate disciplinary measures.
“The Lagos State Police Command, under CP Olohundare Jimoh, will not condone any form of incivility to members of the public.”
