Road users and traders around Sango Motor Park along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway have decried the slow pace of ongoing road rehabilitation in the area.
They called on the Federal Government to compel the contractors handling the project to expedite work, noting that the delay is negatively impacting businesses and daily activities.
Some traders attributed the delay to inadequate manpower, alleging that the contractor may be handling multiple projects simultaneously. A transport union member, Rahmon, said the situation is worsening traffic and affecting operations.
“It is like the job has been abandoned. Sometimes they come late, and at other times, they don’t show up at all. If not for the intervention of the police at the Area Command, the situation would have been worse.

“The slow pace of work has crippled our operations. Drivers now avoid our park because of the traffic,” he said.
A resident, Joshua Apoga, described the project as slow and poorly managed, stressing that the road is strategic and should be handled with urgency.
He commended the police for managing traffic, noting that without their intervention, the situation would have resulted in total gridlock. A trader, who pleaded anonymity, lamented that blocked sections of the road have severely affected businesses.
“The road is always congested, and it gets worse during rainfall. Movement is difficult, and business activities have dropped significantly,” the trader said.
Also speaking, a youth leader, Monsuru, expressed concern over the prolonged delay, saying a journey that should take five minutes now takes up to an hour due to traffic congestion.
