Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore has alleged that the United States’ involvement in Nigerian affairs is motivated by strategic interests aimed at countering China, rather than genuine concern for Nigerians.
Speaking on Channels Morning Brief on Wednesday, Sowore criticized remarks from U.S. Congress members regarding insecurity in Nigeria, calling them misleading and disconnected from the realities on the ground.
“Americans or Trump don’t care about you; they care about how to drive China out of the Nigerian market,”
“I suspect that there is an agenda to recolonize Nigeria, if you hear what Mark Rubi said,” he said.

Citing the widespread insecurities, he described the country as “dangerous for anyone to live in, whether Christian or Muslim.”
Sowore further warned that foreign powers might be attempting to influence Nigeria under the guise of concern, suggesting a broader agenda to “recolonize” the nation.
The activist lamented the weakening of the Nigerian military, claiming that mismanagement has made the country vulnerable to external interference.
“The resilience and expertise of Nigerian soldiers could handle any situation, but the military and the country have been deliberately undermined so anyone can come and dictate to us, while Nigerians applaud,” Sowore said.
