No fewer than 771 students, cut across various departments, will, on Thursday, receive various degrees from the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, at the 7th convocation ceremony of the university.
Addressing a press conference to herald the convocation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, said 598 of the total number are undergraduates, while 173 are post graduates.
Giving a breakdown of the graduates, Prof Adejuyigbe disclosed that the university produced 76 Master’s degree graduates, 32 MPH graduates, 52 Post Graduate Diploma holders and 13 Ph.D graduates.
She informed that the university has grown in all areas, especially in research, adding that the post graduate programmes of the university have been strengthened.

She disclosed that the university collaborated with the West African College of Surgeons and West African College of Physicians for its PhD programmes, adding that the university, through the training, integrated clinical fellowship training with doctoral research.
Analysing the achievements of the university, Prof Adejuyigbe hinted that all the academic programmes of the university are truly accredited by relevant authorities, adding that six academic staff of the university recently secured National Research Fund approval.
The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that an academic staff of the university, Dr Peter Olumuyiwa, was ranked among the top two percent of scientists globally in 2024 and 2025.
Commenting on the Japa syndrome, Prof Adejuyigbe said universities need to produce more medical professionals to cater for the shortage of medical personnel occasioned by the relocation of many of them.
