UN, EU, Embassies of Ireland, Norway, France, Canada, Algeria, Cuba, Qatar, Colombia, and Côte d’Ivoire attend Diplomatic Conference 2.0

The United Nations Nigeria the European Union in Nigeria and Embassies of Ireland, Norway, France, Canada, Algeria, Cuba, Qatar, Colombia and Côte d’Ivoire joined government officials, development partners and young leaders at Diplomatic Conference 2.0, reaffirming the importance of multilateralism, international cooperation and youth engagement in addressing global challenges.

The conference, organised by the African Transformer Institute (ATI) and CEPASD in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on International Cooperation, the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, and the International College of Diplomatic Affairs, was held under the theme “Advancing Multilateralism and International Cooperation through Strategic, Economic and Cultural Diplomacy.”

Representatives of the participating diplomatic missions delivered goodwill messages and keynote presentations on international cooperation, peacebuilding, economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, youth leadership and global partnerships, while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations with Nigeria.

Speaking at the conference, Convener Augustine Igweshi described the gathering as a platform that bridges aspiring diplomats with experienced practitioners and promotes practical learning through diplomatic dialogue and international engagement.

A major highlight of the conference was the Diplomatic Simulation Framework, where delegates assumed the roles of Nigerian diplomats accredited to assigned countries, engaging in negotiations, policy discussions and simulated diplomatic scenarios aimed at strengthening their practical knowledge of diplomacy and foreign policy.

The strong participation of the Peace and Development Advisor Office of United Nations ResidentandHumanitarianCoordinator, the Deputy Head of Delegation European Union in Nigeria and the Embassies of Ireland, Norway, Algeria, Ivory Coast, France, Cuba, Qatar and High commission of Canada
underscored the growing international recognition of Diplomatic Conference as an important platform for dialogue, partnership, and leadership development.

Delegates concluded the conference by calling for stronger multilateral institutions, deeper international cooperation, and greater investment in young people as essential drivers of peace, sustainable development, and global prosperity.
