Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has congratulated the new Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, His Excellency, Msgr. Antonio Guido Filipazzi.
Governor Umahi described the appointment of Filipazzi by His Holiness, Pope Francis, as a great step to further evengalise the nation and win souls for Christ.
He expressed optimism that the new Apostolic Nuncio would start from where his predecessor, Most Rev Augustin Kasuja, stopped in ensuring peace among Christians and other people of different faith.
Governor Umahi wished the new Pope’s representive well and prayed for him to succeed in his quest to evangelize the world and make disciples of all nation as an injunction given by Christ.
“From information available to me, the new Apostolic Nuncio is a consumate doctor of souls who has worked in various parts of the world to win souls for Christ. I on behalf of the good people of Ebonyi State wish to welcome His Excellency, Msgr Antonio Guido Filipazzi as he assumes office as new Papal representive ”
Filipazzi was born in Melzo (Milan- Italy) on October 8, 1963. He was ordained a priest on October 10, 1987 and is a Doctor in Canon Law.
He entered the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See in 1992 and has served in the Apostolic Nunciature in Sri Lanka, Austria, Germany, Indonesia and the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State. Ends
