The University of Ibadan Alumni Association, Lagos Branch, has elected a new set of leaders to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.

The election took place at the Association’s annual general meeting (AGM) held recently at the Lagos Civil Service Club, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos. This was disclosed in a statement yesterday by the Association’s public relations officer, Mr. Wale Fatade.

According to the statement, Michael Popoola Ajayi, a 1992 graduate of the University of Ibadan and a long-serving member of the executive council, emerged as the new chairman of the Lagos branch. Until his election, Ajayi had served the Association with distinction as branch secretary and vice chairman for several years and now assumes leadership as the public face of the pioneer alumni association in Lagos.

Other members of the newly elected executive council are 1st Vice Chairman, Mr. Biosun Bello; 2nd Vice Chairman, Mr. Stephen Alayande; 3rd Vice Chairman, Mrs. Olabisi Gregory; General Secretary, Mr. Oloruntobi Austin; 1st Assistant Secretary, Abdulrasaq Yusuf; 2nd Assistant Secretary, Muyiwa Tijani; Treasurer, Mr. Noah Osifeso; Financial Secretary, Mr. Kunle Durojaiye; Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wale Fatade; Assistant PRO, Mr. Abiodun Alao; Social & Welfare Secretary, Mr. Stanley Dumkwu; Assistant Social & Welfare Secretary, Alhaji Idris Mohammed; Legal Adviser, Judith Duru; Ex-Officio Members, Dr. D. F. Salau, Mr. Ashimi Adewale (Alausa Chapter), Mr. Adeniyi Adewale (Epe Chapter), AIG Sholla David (retd), Mrs. Gbolahan Daodu and Special Adviser, Pastor Mrs. Ebunoluwa Omotoso.

In his acceptance speech, Ajayi thanked members for the renewed confidence reposed in him and his team. He reaffirmed their commitment to service and to giving back to Nigeria’s Premier University. He further called on alumni across all generations to remain actively involved in the Association, stressing that taking the Lagos branch to greater heights was a collective responsibility.
