Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Hamid Bobboyi, has emphasised the critical need for attitudinal change among teachers and administrators to enhance the quality of education in Nigeria.
Speaking in Kano during the launch of a comprehensive training programme for smart school educators, Bobboyi highlighted the Federal Government’s significant investments in modern educational technologies aimed at aligning Nigerian learners with their global peers.
In support of the initiative, Musa Garba Maitafsir, director general of the National Teachers Institute (NTI), reiterated the importance of such training and expressed confidence in NTI’s capability to equip teachers nationwide.
Bashir Galadanci, national coordinator of the UBEC Digital Resource Centre, outlined the objectives of the smart schools initiative and stressed that success hinges on a collective shift in mindset from all stakeholders.
The training programme successfully equipped 195 teachers from various smart schools across Nigeria, with sessions held in Kano, Lafia, Ibadan, and Yola.
The initiative, according to stakeholders, marks a major step towards modernising Nigeria’s educational landscape and fostering a culture of innovation in teaching methodologies.
