United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has reiterated its commitment to connecting Nigerians abroad with investment opportunities back home, leveraging diaspora-driven capital to boost national growth.

Speaking at UBA’s UK office on Monday during a strategic meeting with the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), led by Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Abike Dabiri-Erewa, UBA Group MD/CEO, Oliver Alawuba highlighted the bank’s role in facilitating seamless diaspora engagement through its newly launched Diaspora Banking platform.

The platform aims to go beyond remittances, offering Africans abroad integrated tools to bank, invest, and manage financial obligations in Nigeria, unlocking structured wealth creation and long-term investment.

Alawuba emphasized the diaspora’s economic power: “With UBA, you have a financial partner that is with you, that understands what you are going through, and that can support you to make sure you realise your aspirations, both here and in the country.”

He encouraged Nigerians abroad to explore Africa’s growing economic opportunities: “You are not limited here; you have opportunities on the continent, and we want you to make good use of them…Whether you like it or not, the returns are high in Africa, and we are here to help you navigate that space.”

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa praised UBA for supporting Nigerians globally, noting the importance of highlighting positive diaspora stories. “Many of you here are the real game-changers… We must continue to celebrate you,” she said, stressing that the collaboration marks a significant alignment between public and private efforts to deepen diaspora participation in Nigeria’s development.

The discussions underscored UBA’s capacity to facilitate cross-border payments, connect diaspora enterprises to African markets, and unlock high-yield investment opportunities.

With operations in 20 African countries, the UK, USA, France, and UAE, and serving over 45 million customers, UBA continues to act as a bridge between global Africans and Africa’s expanding economy.
