The Ilobanafor family of Ozegu, Enugwu-Inyi, in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, has announced the funeral schedule for their revered patriarch, Chief Ogbuefi Clement Nwagbogu Ilobanafor (Esesuo Agbara I of Ozegu), who passed away on June 22, 2025, at the age of 93.
In a heartfelt statement, the family revealed that the funeral rites will commence on Monday, January 5, 2026, with a Christian Wake-Keep at his family compound in Umueke Ozegu, Enugwu-Inyi, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The following day, a Requiem Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Enugwu-Inyi Parish, at 10:30 a.m.
The Mass will be immediately followed by funeral rites and a reception at his family compound.
A Thanksgiving Mass to close the ceremonies is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the same parish, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Chief Ilobanafor, cherished for his wisdom, humility, and unwavering dedication to community development, was a unifying force and a symbol of peace in Ozegu and the broader Enugwu-Inyi community.
His leadership and commitment to harmony and progress left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Since his passing, condolences have poured in from across the nation, highlighting the profound impact of his life and legacy.
