Sports commentator and former Trabzonspor striker Mehmet Yılmaz has shared his thoughts on the growing speculation linking Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu with a move to Saudi Arabia during the current summer transfer window. Onuachu, who joined Trabzonspor permanently from Southampton last summer, enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign in the Turkish Super Lig, establishing himself as one of the division’s most prolific strikers. The Super Eagles forward scored 22 league goals and registered two assists in 30 appearances, finishing the season as the league’s top scorer and playing a pivotal role in Trabzonspor’s attacking success.
His remarkable performances have attracted strong interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, raising uncertainty over his future ahead of the 2026/2027 season.
Despite the reported interest, Trabzonspor are understood to be reluctant to part ways with the Nigerian striker, even after reportedly receiving offers in the region of €20–25 million from Saudi clubs.
Speaking on the transfer speculation, Yılmaz admitted that the club’s position could ultimately depend on the player’s desire.
