Reckitt Nigeria has appointed two new Independent Non-Executive Directors, Mrs. Toyin Ojora Saraki and Prince Abimbola Olashore, as part of efforts to strengthen its board and advance its strategic priorities in the country.

The appointments come following the death of the company’s Board Chairman, Chief Michael Olumuyiwa Falomo, whose leadership and stewardship played a significant role in shaping the growth and governance of Reckitt Nigeria over several decades. In a statement, the company paid tribute to the late chairman, acknowledging his enduring legacy and contributions to the organisation.

Saraki, founder-president of The Wellbeing Foundation Africa, is widely recognised for her advocacy in maternal, newborn and child health, gender equity and community wellbeing. With more than 20 years of experience in public health and development, she has held several international leadership and advisory positions, including serving as the inaugural Global Health Ambassador of the WHO Foundation.

She is also associated with a number of global institutions, including the World Health Organization, the World Economic Forum, AstraZeneca Global Breast Cancer Care Council and Bayer Sustainability Council. Reckitt said her expertise in public health, sustainability and social development would provide valuable insights as the company continues to pursue its mission of protecting, healing and nurturing communities.

Olashore, a Chartered Accountant and financial services executive, brings more than three decades of experience in banking, investment management and corporate advisory services.

He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lead Capital Plc and has previously served as Executive Director at Ecobank Transnational Group and Chief Executive Officer of Lead Advisory Group, where he led several strategic growth and transformation initiatives.

Beyond the corporate sector, Olashore currently serves as President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce, Deputy President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Chairman of the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Committee of the Chartered Institute of Directors.

According to Reckitt, his extensive experience in financial strategy, corporate governance and institutional leadership will support the company’s long-term growth ambitions and strategic direction.

Commenting on the appointments, Managing Director of Reckitt West Africa, Akbar Ali-Shah, said the company was delighted to welcome both directors to its board.

“We are pleased to welcome Her Excellency, Mrs Toyin Ojora Saraki and Prince Abimbola Olashore to the Board of Reckitt Nigeria. Their diverse experience and perspectives will further strengthen the Board and support the company’s continued focus on sustainable growth, innovation and positive impact across Nigeria,” he said.

The company noted that the appointments further reinforce its governance framework while bringing additional expertise to support sustainable growth, innovation and long-term value creation in Nigeria.
