At almost 61 —his next birthday is on March 22— Elumelu surely is not your regular wealthy dude. The Heirs Holdings honcho knows how to make money and enjoy life to the fullest. The billionaire tycoon is also a baller who understands pleasure management and how best to build social capital on all fronts. For six years —on the bounce— the UBA Chairman has been throwing extravagant themed parties in his Ikoyi, Lagos sumptuous mansion. The soirées have always brought together an unmatched collection of Nigeria’s biggest A-listers for a culture-defining event. For all these years, Elumelu has become a perfect host of what always turned one of the most exclusive parties of the year. This year’s gig —held on Sunday, 24 December— was no exception, with a star-studded guest list that nearly rivaled that of a scene not too dissimilar to the parties portrayed in Martin Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street.
Themed: ‘TOEAllWhiteParty’, the annual extravaganza over the Christmas holidays turned pop culture’s hottest ticket, with an unmatched gathering of top elites and High Networth Individuals delivered indelible fashion and style moments. Amidst a display of opulence and star power, Elumelu ensured those icons of influence didn’t drift aimlessly apart due to weakening economy, political differences, ego clashes and full blown animosity. To him, his fellow alpha celebrities needed to breathe too! And that’s what happened inside his mansion as hundreds of guests settled easily into partying and experienced a night of indescribable fun. Among the high-profile attendees were Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori; Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki. Scores of HNIs and business elites, including AbdulSamad Rabiu, Wale Tinubu, Tunde Ayeni, Valentine Ozigbo, Igho Sanomi, Gabriel Ogbechie, Obi Cubana and Stanley Uzochukwu rubbed elbows at the high octane event. And of course, the party completed with electrifying performances by Davido, Burna Boy, Kizz Daniel, Flavour, Wande Coal and Tiwa Savage among the night’s talents.
To balance the fun, some days before the luxury White Party in his home, Elumelu —as a very affable big boss— had a bigger party for UBA staff and select customers. Tagged “Denim and Diamonds Rave”, the end of the year party had top artistes like Tiwa, Teni, Mayorkun, Fireboy, Victony, Odumodu, and Crayon thrilling guests.
The guests were treated to the finest and most expensive liquors and delicacies money could buy. Champagne arrived in flûtes on trays, and the guests emptied them with gladness in their hearts, even as they rocked the dance floor. And for days, many guests shared a flurry of Instagram and TikTok videos getting into their all-white looks for the yuletide party. In it, each star showed off their individual style while doing a sultry walk toward the camera. More so, Elumelu, the host also shared a wrap-up reel, highlighting the opulence of the famous event.
