The Bayelsa State chapter of the Tinubu Support Group, TSG, has hailed High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for spearheading grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Director of Media of the group, Udengs Eradiri, also commended some All Progressives Congress, APC, governors for early mobilisation, saying the opposition has been overwhelmed by the pace of the ruling party.
In a statement in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday, Eradiri said President Tinubu requires another four years to consolidate his economic reforms and challenged APC leaders, particularly in the North, to intensify campaigns for his second term.
He singled out Tompolo’s door-to-door strategy and Wike’s town hall meetings under the Rainbow Coalition as models of effective grassroots engagement.
“The Bayelsa chapter of the TSG commends and appreciates Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, for the consistent door-to-door campaign he is doing to mobilise support for Mr President, not only in the Niger Delta but across the country,” Eradiri said.
“Tompolo is outstanding as a grateful individual who, out of gratitude, has continued to spend resources to mobilise support for him. He understands and values the magnitude of work the President has been doing for the country and the Niger Delta.”
Eradiri, former President of the Ijaw Youths Council, IYC, Worldwide and former Bayelsa Commissioner, said Tompolo appreciates the significance of Tinubu’s reforms which previous administrations lacked the political will to implement.
“Even outside what we see on camera, Tompolo is reaching out to various stakeholders and holding underground discussions to explain what the President is doing and to convince them to support him. Most importantly, he is committing resources in the right areas to ensure victory,” he said.
He also praised mobilisation efforts in Kaduna, Katsina, Imo and Rivers states, noting that early preparation is critical.
Eradiri lauded Wike for sustaining active stakeholders’ engagements in Rivers and Abuja and for resolving political crises in the state to unite support for Tinubu.
“We acknowledge the commitment of the FCT Minister who has maintained a busy schedule of town hall meetings. We recognise the sacrifices he has made and how he was able to resolve all the crisis in his state to bring everybody under the same family in the interest of the President’s re-election,” he said.
He warned against complacency, stressing that victory in 2027 would depend on deliberate planning.
“We don’t believe in luck; we believe any man who works hard, benefits of success will gravitate towards him,” he said, challenging opposition parties to start early.
“It is not when we win the election that you will begin to complain of rigging. He who fails to plan has already planned to fail. The APC structures are planning and working hard, crossing the Ts and dotting the Is.”
Eradiri urged the campaign to explain Tinubu’s reforms to Nigerians feeling short-term pains, insisting the steps are patriotic and aimed at repositioning the country.
He argued that four years is insufficient and that Tinubu needs a second term to consolidate, while urging northern stakeholders to support completion of the South’s turn before younger northern politicians take over.
