President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Imam Abdullahi Abubakar, the 92-year-old Chief Imam of Nghar village in Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, describing him as an extraordinary religious leader whose life exemplified faith, courage, and humanity.
Imam Abubakar gained national and international acclaim in 2018 when he risked his life to shelter over 200 Christians amid deadly communal clashes that tore through Plateau State.
His selfless act stood out as a powerful rebuke to tribal and religious divisions, earning him honours from local and global bodies for promoting coexistence.
In a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the late cleric’s unwavering commitment to peace.
