Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje has called on Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that the administration is making progress despite facing entrenched political and economic challenges.

In a press statement titled “Nigerians, Which Way Are We Going?”, Alawuje said President Tinubu remains committed to fulfilling his campaign promises but is confronted by longstanding political interests that have, in his view, undermined previous administrations.

According to him, similar forces frustrated the governments of former Presidents Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Muhammadu Buhari, making governance difficult.

Alawuje alleged that efforts to discredit Tinubu began long before he declared his presidential ambition, describing them as attempts to weaken public confidence in his leadership.

He maintained that President Tinubu is not responsible for Nigeria’s current challenges but has demonstrated the political will and determination to tackle them. He urged Nigerians to give the administration the cooperation needed to implement its reform agenda.

The political figure also accused individuals he described as beneficiaries of Nigeria’s longstanding problems of resisting reforms because they fear losing their influence in a reformed and prosperous nation.

Declaring his unwavering support for the President, Alawuje said he and other loyalists would remain committed to Tinubu’s leadership regardless of the political challenges ahead.

Commenting on developments within opposition parties, Alawuje dismissed attempts to link President Tinubu to internal leadership disputes and court cases involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties.

He criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s political trajectory, noting his movement between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the ADC. Alawuje argued that it would be unfair to blame President Tinubu for internal disagreements within opposition parties.

He also questioned the political strategy of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, citing his movement from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the PDP, then to the Labour Party, and his pursuit of political alliances.

According to Alawuje, Nigeria’s transformation requires patience, sacrifice and consistency, adding that supporting President Tinubu’s reform agenda for another term would help consolidate ongoing reforms.

He urged Nigerians not to allow tribal or religious considerations to undermine national development, stressing that history would ultimately judge leaders by the reforms they pursued and the legacies they left behind.

The statement called for continued national support for the Tinubu administration.
