President Bola Tinubu is set to make a significant state visit to France on November 28-29, marking the first of such visit by a Nigerian leader in 24 years. This visit, at the invitation of French President, Emmanuel Macron, aims to bolster political, economic, and cultural relations between Nigeria and France.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, during the three-day trip, President Tinubu, who will be accompanied by his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, will engage in discussions focused on enhancing partnerships in key sectors, including agriculture, security, education, and energy transition.
The visit is expected to yield substantial benefits for Nigeria, particularly in fostering youth engagement and employment opportunities.
According to the statement, tomorrow, November 28, President Tinubu and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will be welcomed at the historic Les Invalides and Palais de l’Élysée in Paris. Initial ceremonies will lead into bilateral meetings where both leaders will seek to harmonise their positions on various initiatives aimed at youth skill development and innovation.
The agenda also includes participation in a Franco-Nigerian Business Council meeting designed to stimulate economic partnerships. President Tinubu had in the past emphasised the importance of translating diplomatic ties into tangible economic gains for citizens of both nations. He expressed optimism about leveraging Nigeria’s position as Africa’s largest economy to attract French investments.
Additionally, discussions will cover shared interests in finance, trade, and communication. First Ladies, Brigitte Macron and Oluremi Tinubu, are expected to collaborate on initiatives aimed at empowering women and children through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
President Tinubu’s delegation will include top government officials who will accompany him throughout this pivotal engagement.
