President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to two prominent Nigerians, Farouk Gumel and Tobi Amusan, for their recent notable accomplishments on the international stage.

Gumel has been appointed Chairman of Botswana Sovereign Wealth Fund Limited, a role that reflects his exceptional expertise and the high esteem in which Nigerian professionals are regarded globally.

Amusan, on the other hand, earned a silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships held in Tokyo, Japan.

Speaking on Gumel’s appointment, President Tinubu highlighted the significance of the achievement, saying, “As Vice Chairman for Africa at the Tropical General Investment (TGI) Group, among other accomplishments, Gumel has remained a consistent player in Nigeria’s determined efforts in food sufficiency. His leadership in this significant role brings immense pride to our nation, and I am confident he will excel and further cement Nigeria’s reputation for excellence in global finance.”

According to a statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also praised Amusan’s outstanding performance in Tokyo, noting her relentless dedication and patriotic spirit.

“Tobi has once again demonstrated that with patriotic fervour, coupled with hard work and determination, any height is surmountable. Her achievement is a source of national pride,” he said.

President Tinubu wished both Gumel and Amusan continued success in their endeavors and reassured them of the Federal Government’s full support as they represent Nigeria with distinction on the world stage.
