Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, has said: “Time is up for kidnappers, bandits, armed robbers and vandals.” This is just as the command arrested over 55 suspects and rescued 48 victims in the Oke-Ode axis in Ifelodun Local Government, and recovered millions of naira ransom from their hideouts.
He told the Inspector General of Police (IGP) conference in Abuja: “We will expose unrepentant criminals. We are committed to safeguarding lives and properties. The command has continued to intensify efforts in combating crime through proactive policing, intelligence gathering and swift response to distress calls.
“I visited some black spots and redeployed some tactical team operatives. The command has imbibed community policing. As a result of these sustained operations, the command successfully apprehended 44 suspected criminals for offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms in connection with a series of recorded criminal activities.
“I have warned officers against the use of torture in conducting investigations on suspects. We have charged some of the suspects to court, while others are under investigation. The achievement of the command is a testament to the hard work and sacrifice of the officers and men of the command.
“We apply our professionalism, transparency and unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law. This has restored public confidence and improved security across the state. We have recorded significant milestones in combating violent crimes, dismantling criminal syndicates, fostering community policing and enhancing collaboration with sister security agencies and stakeholders.
“The command has updated the professional capacity of officers in line with global policing standards and addressing skill gaps caused by out-dated or neglected procedures. We have stepped up night patrols, aimed at reinforcing the policies commitment to serving and protecting the community. I have charged officers to stay alert and be proactive in preventing crime and ensuring public safety.

“In Okuta, operatives and vigilantes arrested three suspected kidnappers who abducted a woman after attacking her home and later collected N10million ransom. We recovered N2.7 million suspected to be part of the ransom.
“Police at Eyenkorin arrested a suspect, who was involved in breaking into the premises of his victims. Six suspects involved in the kidnapping of a petrol dealer and his manger in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government were arrested.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, added: “We urge the good people of Kwara State to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative by promptly sharing credible information with security agencies. Together we will continue to safeguard our communities against criminal elements. We will continue to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors.”
