From Desmond Mgboh, Kano

Minister of Water Resources Engr Suleiman Adamu had said its imperative for the Gadar Sarkin Kogi at Tiga in Bebeji Local Government Area to be closed for both motorists and pedestrians for their own safety.

He made the statement during a joint assessment visit to the Tiga and Bagauda Dams, respectively, with the governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The minister also explained that the spillway at the two dams is functioning properly, debunking the rumours being spread by some mischief makers that flooding had affected Tiga and Bagauda Dams, adding that the level of the water of the dams has not risen.

He directed the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, who are the major partners, to continue with routine maintenance of the dams.
