The Sun Publishing Limited, publishers of Daily Sun, Saturday Sun, Sunday Sun, and SportingSun has been honoured as the Media Partner of the Year award by the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency, at the maiden edition of the Signage and Advertising Agency Compliance and Recognition Award (ACRA).

The event held at Chicotel Hotel, Awka, last Sunday night, drew a large assemblage of media practitioners, advertising professionals, politicians, government functionaries, and industry experts, among others.

The Sun won the award for the newspaper category, while Udala Radio FM, Onitsha was also honoured in the radio category.

Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, while presenting the award to Mr. Aloysius Attah, The Sun Correspondent in Anambra, who represented the Managing Director, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, praised The Sun for its excellent reportage, providing rich exciting news, and human interest stories that have shaped the society positively.

He disclosed that the honour to The Sun was in recognition of not only its exceptional media collaboration and consistent coverage of ANSAA activities, but, also, for the newspaper’s impactful strides in the Nigeria’s media landscape.

Responding, The Sun Correspondent, Attah, while conveying the appreciation of the management of The Sun Publishing for the recognition, expressed gratitude to the management of ANSAA, for prioritising excellence and acknowledging the collaboration and contributions of the media in enhancing their operational activities.

He praised the MD/CEO of ANSAA, Tony Ujubuonu, for bringing his professional expertise into the operations of ANSAA, and for taking the agency to greater heights through team work and effective communication.

Earlier, the ANSAA MD/CEO, Ujubuonu, in his opening remarks, disclosed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo, on assumption of office, gave a mandate to the leadership of ANSAA, to “run the agency like a business, and return reasonable value to the state”.

He said that to achieve the governor’s mandate, ANSAA had to be completely redefined: “We had a 360 degrees recalibration of its corporate governance and day-to day operations within the ambit of the laws setting up the agency. We rebranded the agency to connect with its stakeholders; we realigned our vision to key into Mr. Governor’s overall vision for the state and arrived at a mission statement that would enable us achieve that vision”.

He said the ACRA award was conceived to appreciate and say thank you to those who have supported their vision and have encouraged them to grow. Ujubuonu stated that ANSAA has had a tremendous growth under Governor Soludo, from a staff strength of less than 45 to 80 members of staff with an average age of 29, from five zonal offices to 10 zonal offices, and from a band of revenue hustlers to a team of well trained, properly dressed, well-mannered, and confident partners of their highly revered clients.

Awards were given in different categories during the event, including Internal Excellence Awards, Community and Leadership Awards, Operational and Compliance Awards, Supporting Partner Awards, Media Awards, and the Premium Awards.
