The Federal Executive Council (FEC), on Wednesday, observed a minute’s silence in honour of two former members of the Council who died recently.
The brief tribute took place shortly before President Bola Tinubu commenced the Council meeting at the State House, Abuja.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, called for a minute’s silence in memory of former Minister of Finance, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, and former Minister of Science and Technology, Professor Turner Isoun.
Alhaji served as Minister of Finance during the administration of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, while Professor Isoun was Minister of Science and Technology under former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

According to the SGF, Alhaji died on July 30 at the age of 89, while Professor Isoun passed away on July 15, aged 87.
Members of the Council thereafter observed the minute’s silence before the commencement of the meeting.
President Tinubu is currently presiding over the FEC meeting, which has in attendance the SGF; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser; ministers and other senior government officials.
