A food processing and packaging solutions, Tetra Pak, has reaffirmed its commitment to healthier communities and a more sustainable environment through a community outreach at Vetland Junior and Senior Grammar School, Agege, Lagos.

The event brought together over 1,500 participants, including students, teachers, and key stakeholder partners, for a one-day activity dedicated to health, wellness, and environmental responsibility.

The initiative is part of Tetra Pak’s Better with Carton campaign, launched in 2023 to champion sustainability and promote healthier communities through responsible and innovative packaging solutions.

According to the Managing Director, Tetra Pak West Africa, Haithem Debbiche, the company has continued to demonstrate that sustainable practices directly support healthier lives and a cleaner future by connecting environmental stewardship with community well-being.

He said: “At Tetra Pak, we believe in protecting what’s good. This outreach is more than a wellness campaign; it is a platform to empower young people with knowledge on sustainability. Sustainability is at the core of our business and collaborations like this enable us to build healthier lives, empower the next generation and strengthen food systems for the future.”

The Principal of Vetland Senior Grammar School, Dr. Maria Eko, expressed appreciation for the partnership, noting the school’s strong sustainability culture. “We actively engage in recycling, so this synergy with Tetra Pak is very valuable to us. We feel honoured to be selected from the many schools in Lagos and we believe this collaboration will inspire our learners and reinforce our commitment to a cleaner environment.”

Representing the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Education District I, Agege, Ms. Abiodun Adenaike praised the outreach, describing it as aligned with the district’s mission to promote not just academic excellence but values that support health and environmental responsibility.

Executive Director, Food & Beverage Recycling Alliance, (FBRA), Ms Agharese Onaghise, emphasised the importance of engaging young people, saying, “Children are the future and by empowering them as Eco Heroes and sustainability ambassadors, we secure the future of our ecosystem. We appreciate Tetra Pak for leading such initiatives.”

This outreach is a strong demonstration of their commitment to creating lasting impact,” she said.

With over 1,500 participants in attendance, the outreach underscores Tetra Pak’s dedication to improving community well-being while advancing its global mission of delivering safe food, driving economic growth and strengthening its sustainability value chain.
