Terrorists on the move

Despite Gov Ahmadu Fintiri’s warning, terrorists again attacked Shewen and Kirchinga communities in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Tuesday night.

Following the attack, about 16 bodies have been recovered from the two communities in Adamawa State yesterday.

The attack, described by many in Madagali as coordinated, forced most residents to flee their homes.

Sources said dozens were, however, caught in the confusion that ensued following heavy shooting that lasted for an hour.

At least 16 people, including the newly appointed village head of Kirchinga, were killed. Some residents are still missing as of yesterday afternoon.

The terrorist assault on the two communities is one in a string of attacks in Adamawa and Borno states where Boko Haram and its split, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) appear to have stepped up their terror activities in recent times.

The Joint Task Force Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, is yet to officially comment on the attack.

Terrorist attacks have been on the rise in recent times, especially in Adamawa and Borno states. Both states and Yobe have suffered 16 years of terror attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP.
