The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), says it has recorded tremendous successes in the fight against terrorism as more terrorists have continued to surrender with the launching of Operation Nashrul Salam.
MNJTF Force Commander Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, made this known when he visited the Chief of Defence Staff(CDS), General Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters(DHQ), in Abuja.
Gen Ali, while noting that an increasing number of terrorists recently laid down their arms in the Republic of Chad, Cameroon, and Nigeria, demonstrating a significant shift in the ongoing operations against insurgency in the region, commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their unwavering support to the MNJTF in its efforts to combat terrorism.
The Force Commander added that the MNJTF also intensified intervention in providing support to the communities to facilitate their recoveries through Quick Impact Projects, adding that recently in Sector 3 Monguno-Nigeria, over eight communities benefited from thirty five projects in water, education and health sectors.
Welcoming the delegation to the DHQ, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who commended the MNJTF’s dedication to stabilizing the Lake Chad area, highlighting its crucial economic importance to the neighboring countries, emphasized the need to continue supporting the MNJTF in achieving its mandate and pledged further assistance to ensure the force’s continued success in the fight against terrorism.
Operation Nashrul Salam, a non-kinetic operation of the MNJTF, has been instrumental in persuading terrorists to embrace peace and renounce violence in the Lake Chad area. This approach reflects a strategic shift towards addressing the root causes of conflict and promoting sustainable peace in the region.
The operation’s success in encouraging surrenders from insurgents in multiple countries is a testament to the effectiveness of this non-violent approach in countering terrorism and fostering stability.
