From Obinna Odogwu, Ekwulobia

Tension is brewing in Oba community, Idemili South council area of Anambra State over the alleged sale of airport land belonging to the community.
About 200 youths brandishing machetes and other dangerous weapons, at the weekend, gathered at Okpuno-Umuogali village Hall for the protest before they were stopped by elders.
Inspite of the stoppage, Daily Sun gathered that the youths later reassembled and moved from street to street, threatening thunder and brimstone.
The airport project  was cancelled in 2008 by the state government based on the Environmental Impact Assessment report which indicated among others that the area was prone to erosion.
The state Governor, Willie Obiano, during the flag off of Oba/Umuoji Road in 2015, promised to turn the land to an industrial estate but never did.
A youth leader, Ikenna Onugha, said that the youths were aggrieved that the state government sold the land to an individual instead of building industries.
He alleged that the owners of the land were not paid any compensation, even as he accused the government of not sticking to the content of their agreement on the land.
All efforts to reach the Commissioner for Lands, Sir Okey Morka, for reaction proved abortive as his number was not reachable.
AlsUmeh, did not pick calls made to his phone.
