Tension is high at Ugwuodo-Isuochi community in Umunneochi Local Government, Abia State, following the resumption of criminal activities along the Ugwuodo axis of the Amuda–Umuaku road, leaving in its wake, the death of one person and injuring of another.
Abia state government had following security threat around the cattle market and its environs, carried out raids at the market and other surrounding areas which checkmated the activities of the hoodlums.
In addition, the formation and launch of joint security force code name “Operation Crush” by the state government to a great extent restored peace in the area.
However, there have been a resurgence of criminal activities in the Ugwuodo axis as residents claimed that criminals have in recent times, unleashed heavy gunfire attacks in the area, leaving them in panic.
These recent attacks it was gathered led to the death of a native, popularly known as “Daddy Cool”, while another victim was said to be critically injured.
Some natives who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that the hoodlums have resumed their activities along the Ugwuodo axis of the Amuda–Umuaku road.
They called on Abia state government and heads of security agencies to intervene urgently and flush out the criminal elements in the area.
