Local security personnel in Ukpo community, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State have foiled an attempt by some hoodlums to attack and destroy property in their community.
The hoodlums, it was gathered, allegedly invaded the community in the dead of the night with dangerous weapons including guns, dynamites, fuel, gas, tyre, and others and attempted to vandalize and burn some property in the town.
This is contained in a petition dated October 27 this year which was forwarded to the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13, AIG Danmallam Mohammed by C. C. Ozumba, the counsel to Ukpo community.
Ozumba, who disclosed that the invasion of the community took place at about 2am on October 24 this year appealed to the AIG to look into the matter, and as well, beef up security in the area to ensure security of lives and property.
He reminded that there had been a land tussle between Ukpo and Abba communities which he said that the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Ukpo community.
Ukpo’s counsel, who also disclosed that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the attempted attack, revealed that the property which the attackers plotted to set ablaze included a hotel and a school.
