The Nigeria Police Force in Taraba State has arrested suspects linked to the killing of three officers in Donga Local Government Area, recovering weapons stolen during the deadly attack.

The State Commissioner of Police, Morkwap Dongshal, confirmed the development, noting that the arrests followed coordinated intelligence efforts and engagements with stakeholders across southern parts of the state.

The incident occurred about two weeks ago when officers responding to a distress call in Tse Kwe village, Tor Damisa, were ambushed. The attack led to the deaths of three policemen and a local vigilante leader, raising fresh concerns over security in the area.

According to the police chief, two suspects traced to Akente village in Donga were apprehended during the operation, while efforts continue to track down other members of the group.

“The Command has recovered all three stolen service firearms. The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court accordingly. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices who remain at large,” Dongshal said.

He assured residents that the command remains committed to restoring security and preventing further attacks through stronger collaboration with local communities.

In addition, the commissioner emphasised the importance of intelligence sharing, urging residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.

The arrests mark a significant step in the ongoing investigation, though authorities say the broader operation to dismantle the network behind the killings is still underway.
