The leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the South West, has urged its members to disregard any misinformation and propaganda from the former president, Tajudeen Baruwa, insisting that the region cannot conduct its delegate conference until the determination of the case in the Court of Appeal

This resolution was reached during the zonal council meeting/stakeholders’ meeting at the zonal council secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State.

The zonal secretary, Adesina Olayioye, signed the resolution, which said: “We urge all members in the South West comprising Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, and Lagos states, to disregard any misinformation and propaganda from Tajudeen Baruwa, and instead, rely on official communication channels for accurate information from the National Headquarters.”

The leaders also agreed to support the ongoing legal process and await the Court of Appeal’s determination on the leadership matter, stating that the zone cannot conduct its zonal delegate conference until after the determination of the case in court. They emphasised the importance of upholding the rule of law and due process. The meeting resolved that the zonal council would continue to provide leadership and guidance to members in the region, while ensuring uninterrupted union activities and operations.

The leaders also appealed to the Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, and his Osun State counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, to lift the suspension on the union’s activities in their respective states, promising to maintain peace and tranquility in the states.

Speaking at the meeting, the Acting General Secretary, Kayode Agbeyangi, stated that the outcome of the meeting has shown that the South West NURTW has reaffirmed its commitment to unity, peace and due process, promising that the national headquarters of the union would continue to provide necessary update and information regarding the affairs of the union.
