Former governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue North East senatorial primary election conducted across seven local government areas of the district, comprising Ukum, Logo, Katsina-Ala, Kwande, Ushongo, Vandeikya and Konshisha.
Suswam polled 131,083 votes to defeat his six opponents, including Cephas Tushima, who polled 4,424 and the incumbent Senator Emmanuel Udende who got 1,364 votes.
In Benue North West, the incumbent senator, Titus Zam lost his ticket.
The Returning Officer for the election, Chief John Ihembe said the election was conducted across seven local government areas, including Buruku, Gwer East, Gwer West, Guma, Gboko, Tarka, and Makurdi.

In the keenly contested exercise in Zone B, the husband of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and retired Customs Officer, Benjamin Aber scored 93,412 to defeat Zam, who polled 2,763 votes.
Announcing the results at the APC Secretariat in Makurdi, Chairman, National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Saidu Sabiu said the election was peaceful, free and fair.
In the Benue South senatorial primary election, the aspirants received the following votes; Mr Francis Ota Agbo polled 58,760 votes to defeat his opponents, Joseph Ojobo, 6,782 votes, Nelson Alapa, 4,312 votes, Gabriel Oloche, 5,246 votes, Patrick Ojeche, 2,732 votes and Daniel Onjeh, 4,570 votes.
The committee chairman declared Mr Gabriel Suswam, Mr. Benjamin Aber and Mr Francis Agbo, winners of the elections in the three senatorial districts having polled the highest number of votes.
