Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have again hijacked a passenger vehicle along Otukpo-Adoka road, Benue State, killing two passengers and kidnapping four others.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11 pm on Sunday, May 4, 2025, as the vehicle was en route from Abuja to Otukpo.
Witnesses said the attackers opened fire as soon as they sighted the vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and veered off the road into a nearby bush after which the kidnappers rushed to the vehicle and abducted the passengers on board.
Chairman of Otukpo Local Government (LG), confirmed the incident, saying that the vehicle was coming from Abuja to Otukpo when the incident occurred.
He explained that majority of the passengers had alighted in Adoka before the incident occurred .
According to him,”the six passengers that were remaining in the vehicle were intercepted along Adoka-Otukpo road, two people were killed and four others taken away.”
