Nigeria’s Super Falcons have climbed to 36th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking, holding firm as Africa’s top-ranked side.
The latest update, released on Tuesday, shows a slight rise from their previous 37th position recorded in December 2025, underlining steady progress despite recent mixed results.
That movement reflects two pre-WAFCON friendlies against Cameroon, where the Falcons suffered a narrow 1–0 loss before responding with a commanding 3–1 victory in the return leg.
In that second encounter, Chinwendu Ihezuo brought Nigeria level in the 32nd minute, heading home from a well-delivered cross by Rinsola Babajide.

Babajide then turned scorer just before half-time, reacting quickest inside the box to give the Falcons the lead.
Michelle Alozie sealed the win in the 64th minute, rising to meet a precise delivery from captain Rasheedat Ajibade to cap a dominant performance.
The result earned Nigeria an additional 3.35 ranking points, taking their total to 1602 in April, although still slightly below the 1607 points recorded in December.
Across Africa, the Falcons remain comfortably ahead, with South Africa, Ghana and Morocco trailing behind in 58th, 59th and 62nd positions globally, while Spain continue to lead the world rankings ahead of the United States, England, Germany and Japan.
