Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi has announced her retirement from professional football.
The 42-year-old centre-back took to X on Wednesday to make the announcement.
Ebi said, “Today, I officially retire from professional football.
The journey has been filled with challenges, victories, and lessons that shaped me into who I am today.
“Though I hang up my boots, my purpose in the game continues — to give back, to guide, and to be a voice for players.”

Ebi made her first appearance for the Super Eagles in 2003.
In 2023, she became the first African footballer, male or female, to play in six FIFA World Cup tournaments.
Ebi kicked off her career with Omidiran Babes in 2001 and joined Bayelsa Queens in 2008.
She subsequently had spells with different European clubs, including Pitea and Djurgårdens in Sweden, Ataşehir Belediyespor in Turkey and FC Minsk in Belarus.
Ebi joined Abia Queens in 2023.
