Suicide bomber dies in accidental explosion

A suspected accidental bomb explosion yesterday claimed the life of a suicide bomber while trying to gain access into the University of Maiduguri.
Abdulkadir Ibrahim, Information Officer, National Emergency Management Agency, North East Zone stated this in a statement.
“Today 20/5/2017 some minutes past 10 am, one male adult suicide bomber hid in the bush around the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid), supposedly trying to gain access into the university where students were gathering.
“Unfortunately for him the IED exploded and killed him. No casualty was recorded.
“Emergency workers from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and those of the state (BOSEMA) were drafted to the scene. “The corpse of the suspected suicide bomber has been deposited at Borno Specialist Hospital,” the statement read.
