Subsidy: FG, NLC in horse trading

NLC-strike

We’re wooing each other – Ajaero

• TUC expected

From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

In order to prevent organised Labour from embarking on strike on Wednesday, the Federal Government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), are now engaged in horse trading.

The meeting is currently on break to allow for consultations.

The NLC President, Joe Ajaero who left the meeting with some of his EXCO members, were seen consulting.

He told State House Correspondents that both sides were wooing each other.

He only said they were not aware of any court injunction halting the strike.

He said there was no need for government to use underhand tactics, but rather should engage Labour and address the concerns of workers.

One of the NLC EXCO members disclosed that the Trade Union Congress (TUC), leadership were being expected at the meeting.

Meanwhile, former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has joined the government delegation.
