Students riot in Edo over staff’s strikes

Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo State, have trooped to the streets protesting against the management of the institution.

Reports say that the students were enraged by the unending industrial action by the management’s staff.

According to insiders, the students are most livid because those who are ready to graduate have been made to wait in the school since their lecturers no longer come around.

“Lecturers have not been paid and students are protesting because it’s time for resumption and graduates that are supposed to go for service are being delayed as a result of the strike,” a source within the school premises said.

It was also gathered that the students have blocked the road leading to Abuja on the expressway and have barricaded adjoining roads to the school’s entrance as well.
